A woman from Hamden is in some hot water after being accused of causing more than $5,000 in damage to the Hamden Police Department detention area after her arrest.
Lonna Leak, 37, was arrested at her home after police were called there to investigate reports of loud music.
After being arrested, Hamden police said they put Leak in the back of the police cruiser, and that's where her rampage began.
Police said when Leak was put in the police cruiser she continually kicked the interior cage.
Leak, who was handcuffed with her hands behind her back, was able to somehow bring her hands to the front of her body.
Police said Leak then gained access to the police radio and began interfering with police communications.
As officers intervened, that's when police said Leak kicked one of the officers.
Leak's attacks didn't stop once she arrived at the station, either.
Police said Leak spit on a member of the Hamden Fire Department and was then put in a cell right away.
While inside, police said, Leak urinated on the floor, started biting the padded walls and then attempted to flood it.
Police then moved Leak to a second cell where she damaged the sprinkler system and caused a flood in the cellblock and booking area.
Leak was then moved to the adult booking area where police said she damaged an electronic control panel, biting off the rubber buttons.
Damages are estimated to be more than $5,000.
Leak was charged with assault on a police officer, interfering with a police officer, criminal mischief, and break of peace.
Leak is being held in jail on $50,000 bond.
