SIMSBURY, CT (WFSB) -

The Simsbury Police Department has canceled an Amber Alert for a missing 3-year-old boy that was issued Thursday evening.

The search for Anthony Bunce and his mother, Yolanda Bunce, 40, stretched from Simsbury across state lines into Rhode Island.

According to police, the toddler and his mother, who live in Simsbury, were last spotted at the Hartford Armory around 3 p.m. Thursday.

According to police, coworkers of the boy's father, Edward Bunce, said Yolanda was looking for him and was not coherent.

That's when they said she took off.

For hours, electronic signs illuminated across Connecticut highways alerting drivers to be on the lookout for the boy and his mom.

With no sign of either of them, police pinged Yolanda's cell phone and were able to find her in Rhode Island with Anthony.

They were both safe.

Police won't say why they were in Rhode Island, but said they had no reason to be there.

There's no word if Yolanda will face charges.

The boy is with his father.
