WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

The man shot and killed in Waterbury earlier this week has been identified by police.

Waterbury police said Chester Harriot, 47, of Waterbury, died after being shot once in the chest.

According to officials, a group of people, including Harriot, were playing cards when two men entered the building and attempted to rob them.

One of the victims got into a struggle with one of the robbers, and police said that's when Harriot was shot.

He was brought to St. Mary's Hospital where he was pronounced dead an hour later.

The crime is still under investigation, and Waterbury police are asking anyone that may have information to call them.
