Springfield police investigating 12th murder of the year

SPRINGFIELD, MA (WSHM) -

Police are investigating the city's 12th murder of the year.

Sgt. Chris Hitas told CBS 3 that two men were involved in a shooting on Robert Dyer Circle at about 6 p.m. Sunday.

One was shot in the head, the other in the leg.

Hitas confirmed that the man shot in the head died.

Police continue to investigate the reason behind the shooting.

The second man that was shot in the leg is not believed to have life-threatening injuries.
