3 accused in massive pot bust appear in court

Posted: Updated:

They're being accused in one of the largest pot busts in West Hartford's history, and now the three men that police said had nearly 170 pounds of marijuana appeared in Hartford Superior Court on Thursday.

According to police, the pot was delivered to a home on Cambridge Street and was hidden in a secret container inside a large crate.

The pot has an estimated street value between $180,000 and $250,000.

"I know there was a crate there when I left," said Adrianna Gajju. "It was a huge crate. I didn't know what it was. He didn't know what it was and his friend stopped by so maybe it was his."

Gajju's husband, Andy, was one of the three men arrested.

Police also nabbed Daniel Vidal, of Cromwell and Corey Brookshire, of West Hartford.

All three were charged with conspiracy to sell drugs.

"Certainly the amount of marijuana, that's not for the average dealer," said West Hartford police Lt. Jeremy Clark.

Because the size of this shipment of pot, police in West Hartford believe the drugs could have been going to places as far away as Boston and New York.

Following their court appearance, the three men are being held on a $500,000 bond and are scheduled to appear in court again on Jan. 4.
