Body found in Mad River in Waterbury

WATERBURY, CT (WFSB) -

The body of a homeless man was found in the Mad River near Rutledge Street in Waterbury on Thursday afternoon.

The Waterbury Police Department is investigating the incident. Investigators told Eyewitness News that there are no immediate signs of foul play.

According to police, it appears the man fell down the embankment, but police will not know for sure until the autopsy is completed and confirms the cause and manner of death.

The identity of the man has not been released at this time. However, police said the man is believed to live in the area.

The body was found around noon, police said.
