Police in Hartford are investigating a home invasion Monday night that sent two people to the hospital with gunshot wounds.
Officers were called to the second floor of a multi-family home at 1060-1062 Capitol Ave. just before 10:30 p.m. after getting reports of shots being fired.
Police said a person forced his way into the apartment on the second floor and opened fire.
Two men in the apartment were injured, police said one was shot in the chest, the other shot in the groin.
Both victims were taken to St. Francis Hospital for treatment and are in stable condition. According to police, their injuries are non-life-threatening.
Police said the shooting "was not a random act of violence as the victims appear to have been intended targets" and "investigators are pursuing all potential leads."
Residents said seeing a crime scene in their neighborhood was "very frightening."
"I look and I see all the police, the yellow tape and think, 'oh God, what happened,'" said Carmen Diaz of Hartford.
Diaz said this kind of police activity is unusual for this neighborhood in Hartford.
"It's a very quiet neighborhood, very surprising to see things like this happen," she said. "It's a shame."
