Winterfest, Holiday Light Fantasia closed following shooting

HARTFORD, CT (WFSB) -

Winterfest activities and the Holiday Light Fantasia in Hartford were canceled Friday following a mass shooting at a school in Newtown.

Both of the events will reopen Saturday.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the families of the victims and their entire community," said Denise Hornbecker, Executive Director of the Channel 3 Kids Camp.

In addition, the telethon scheduled for Saturday to benefit the Channel 3 Kids Camp has been postponed, but an air date has yet to be announced.
