Winter weather making its way into Connecticut

ROCKY HILL, CT (WFSB) -

Some wintry weather is expected to make its way into the state Sunday.

According to Channel 3 Early Warning Weather meteorologist Mike Cameron said Sunday morning's "mini-mess" will bring rain, light snow and sleet.

As a result, some extra travel time may be needed if you're out and about during the day.

Cameron said accumulations will be light, and many areas will not have anything more than a little moisture on the ground.

In areas north of New Milford-Waterbury-Hartford-Storrs-Danielson (the Interstate 84 corridor), there is the potential to see a coating, but that level of accumulation will be spotty.

During the afternoon, Cameron said, a slow transition to plain drizzle or light, spotty rain showers will occur so that by evening, most of the state will have no more ice.

The only areas still prone to ice by dinner time will be valley locations in far northern Connecticut, particularly northwest of Hartford.
