Schools reopen in Newtown

Schools in Newtown, with the exception of Sandy Hook Elementary, will be reopening Tuesday for the first time since Friday's deadly shooting.

The schools in town will have a two-hour delay and there will be no morning kindergarten Tuesday.

Extra security and police are expected to be present at all schools.

Officials said counseling will continue to be made available for students, faculty, staff and even members of the town who need it through the week.  Services will be available at the Reed Intermediate School from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday, and at the Newtown Youth & Family Services office from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. through Friday as well.

Meanwhile students who attended the Sandy Hook Elementary School will be going to school at the old Chalk Hill Middle School in Monroe when they return.

The school has been closed for some time, and needs to be brought up to date before it can be opened.

There is no word at this time as to when Sandy Hook students will return to school.
