New Milford school officials canceled classes for Friday after they said word of potential threats were circulating through the schools.
In a statement, Superintendent JeanAnn Paddyforte said, based on advice from the New Milford Police Department for the safety and well being of students, they decided to close schools for the day.
Police said they were investigating the threats, and all were found to be unsubstantiated. However, based on recent events, they felt it was in the best interest of the community to cancel school.
Classes will resume on Jan. 2 after the winter break.
