East Lyme Liberty Bank robbed

EAST LYME, CT (WFSB) -

State police are searching for a suspect who robbed a bank in East Lyme.

It happened just before 6 p.m. Friday at the Liberty Bank on Flanders Road.

Police said the suspect walked into the bank, approached the teller and displayed a weapon. According to officials, the suspect was able to get away with an unknown amount of cash.

No one inside the bank was injured during the robbery.

Police deployed canine units to help track down the suspect, but have not yet taken anyone into custody.

The suspect is described by officials as a white subject, wearing a dark-colored jacket, dark knitted hat and dark glasses. The subject also appears to have a mustache.

Anyone with information is asked to call state police.
