Plantsville woman killed in wrong-way crash

SOUTHINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

A woman from Plantsville was killed after being hit by a wrong-way driver on Interstate 84 in Southington.

It happened around 11:30 p.m. Saturday night between exits 31 and 30 on the westbound side of interstate 84.

Police said Nancylee Salerno, 61, of Plantsville, was driving on the westbound side of the highway, when she was struck by a car traveling in the wrong direction.

Salerno was taken to St. Mary's Hospital, where was later died.

The wrong-way driver, identified as Brett Peterman, 29, of Plantsville, was also taken to a nearby hospital, where he was treated for a broken leg and other non-life-threatening injuries.

At this point police are still investigating the incident. It is unclear if Peterman will face any charges in connection to the crash.
