Firefighters in Bridgeport are battling a blaze in a factory building.
Officials said the two-alarm fire started around 3 a.m. in the Pequonnock River Woodworking Company building on Knowlton Street.
Crews are still on scene as of 6 a.m. dealing with hot spots.
Officials said no one was in the building at the time of the fire.
The Department of Energy and Environmental Protection was called to the scene because the back of the building extends over the river, officials said.
In addition, officials said several unknown chemicals may have been involved in the fire, including lacquers and paints.
The fire marshal is on the scene investigating what might have sparked the fire.
