Officials investigate several suspicious fires in Bridgeport

BRIDGEPORT, CT (WFSB) -

Fire officials are investigating after battling a string of suspicious fires in Bridgeport on Christmas Eve.

Firefighters responding to a fire at a home on Madison Court recovered a body, officials said.

The first fire was reported at 1:45 p.m. in the 300 block of Olive Street in a vacant multi-family home.

Shortly after responding to that scene, crews were called to a second suspicious fire in the area of Center and Frank Streets.

Crews were than called to 6 Madison Court, where a third fire was reported.

While battling the blaze, firefighters discovered the body of the victim on the second floor.

While firefighters were on scene of the first three fires, firefighters had to return to the first scene on Olive Street for a fourth fire.

The investigation is still ongoing.

Authorities are trying to determine whether someone intentionally re ignited the fire at the house on Olive Street.

The houses were vacant, and the four fires are being treated as suspicious.
