Two Bridgeport police officers were recovering Wednesday after being injured after a high-speed chase Christmas evening.
According to police, officers were called to an incident in the 400 block of Wood Street when they spotted a silver Honda speeding. The officers tried to pull the vehicle over, however the driver drove faster and through traffic lights and stop signs.
Officers Roderick Doda and Eric Schneider tried to stop the Honda in the area of Park and University avenues. The Honda slammed into the side of the cruiser and caused "heavy damage" to both vehicles.
Both Doda and Schneider as well as two people in the other vehicle were sent to a local hospital after the crash.
None of the injuries appear to be life-threatening.
Doda, who is a 10-year veteran, was taken to the intensive care unit after he suffered head and neck injuries. Schneider, who has only been on the force for 20 months, suffered a laceration to his head as well as other injuries.
The driver of the Honda Josue Jimenez, 18, of Bridgeport, suffered injuries to his right leg and face while his passenger Antonio Lostaunau, 21, of Bridgeport, suffered injuries to his left leg.
Lostaunau was issued a misdemeanor summons at the hospital for interfering with police and failure to wear a seatbelt, according to police.
