Deputies: Man claims to be killer to get back at ex-wife
Joseph Ledford (Spartanburg Co. Sheriff's Office)
COWPENS, SC (FOX Carolina) -
Spartanburg County deputies said they arrested a man who lied about killing someone in an effort to get back at his ex-wife.
Deputies said 56-year-old Joseph Ledford, of Cowpens, called 911 on Sunday and said that he had killed someone, and provided the address of his ex-wife's house. They said that when deputies arrived, the woman told them she had no idea what they were talking about and that her ex-husband had been harassing her over the phone.
Investigators said they traced the 911 call to a motel where Ledford was staying. They said deputies went to the motel and arrested Ledford.
Ledford was charged with unlawful use of 911 and filing a false report.
