With some portions of the state expected to be hit with about a half foot of snow, town officials in North Haven prepared for Saturday's storm.
In late November, there was more than a foot of snow in the Clintonville section of North Haven. It's one reason why town officials are already preparing for Saturday's forecast.
"I forgot how high it was but when I walked outside it was up to my knees," said Scott Olson of North Haven.
In nearby towns, there was practically no snow, especially on the shoreline where Hurricane Sandy struck about a week before.
North Haven First Selectman Michael Freda said they have been watching this weekend's storm closely and they plan to prepare the roads first thing Saturday morning.
"So what we are going to do is because the storm is projected to hit between 10 and 11 a.m. on Saturday, we will bring people in at 6:30 in the morning and we will pre-treat the roads then," he said. "It will take us about 2 1/2 hours to pre-treat all the roads."
Freda said the town has plenty of a de-icing substance called "Clear Lane," which will be used to prepare the roads. Clear Lane has been effective, according to Freda.
"As it grips the road and as cars and trucks pass through it, it doesn't disperse," he said. "It stays."
The one good thing about the foot of snow back in November is that it didn't stay around long.
"I love it, even though it's not the greatest for adults," said Denise Perrelli of New Haven. "It's more for children, but it's great."
