Package stores in Connecticut will be closed on News Year's Day, however businesses will be able to sell alcohol on New Year's Eve.
Bars, restaurants, clubs and other establishments will be able to serve alcohol until 3 a.m. on New Year's Day.
However, the Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection is advising residents to act responsibly when consuming alcohol this holiday.
"I urge everyone to guard against needless tragedy - please drink responsibly, don't drink and drive, and don't serve or provide alcohol to anyone who appears intoxicated or is under the age of 21," said Connecticut Department of Consumer Protection Commissioner William M. Rubenstein. "We offer our best wishes to everyone for a happy, healthy and safe holiday."
A bill passed earlier this year will also allow the liquor sales on Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
