AVON, CT (WFSB) -

After nearly 13 hours a standoff in Avon has ended with no injuries reported.

Police from multiple towns responded to a home on Lovely Street around 2 p.m. Sunday for reports of a dispute between two roommates.

When officers arrived,  they said were confronted by one of the roommates, 54-year-old Brian Benjamin, who was armed and made threats to harm himself and police.

Police said Benjamin then barricaded himself back in the home.

The female roommate was able to make it out of the house safely, police said.

Neighbors in the area were also evacuated with the help of neighboring police agencies and the North Central Municipal Emergency Services Team as a precaution.

Police say Benjamin finally exited the home around 3 a.m. Monday.  He was taken into police custody and taken to an area hospital for treatment of superficial injuries.

Police said charges against Benjamin are pending his release from the hospital.
