A California man reportedly threatened to kill customers and even hit people, including a well-known Walmart greeter, in Milford Friday afternoon.
The whole incident was caught on surveillance cameras inside the Walmart. Police said on the video, the suspect walks right up to the greeter and punches him in the face.
Eyewitness News tracked down one of the victims from an incident inside the Walmart near the Connecticut Post Mall.
"It was pretty scary and I wasn't sure he had a weapon," said the woman, who wished not to be identified. "I was trying to find a place to hide."
Andrew Marez, who has a lengthy criminal history, was arrested and charged with two counts of second-degree threatening and third-degree assault, as well as second-degree breach of peace.
He appeared in New Haven Superior Court Monday morning where a judge raised his bond from $2,500 to $25,000.
Police said Marez walked into the store Boston Post Road Friday afternoon and yelled "I'm going to kill you" and "you're all going to die."
"He said, 'Do you want to die like your son, I'll kill you too,'" said the woman, who was with her 2-year-old nephew and teenage daughter. "So it scared the hell out of me."
Police said Marez, who police believe was working in the area, punched an older store greeter in the face. The greeter is well-known to customers in the area, the victim told Eyewitness News.
"I told my daughter to get him out of there," the woman said. "Just go away. I told her to go to Petco."
