BELCHERTOWN, MA (WSHM) -

Belchertown police tell CBS 3 that they have cleared the Jabish Middle School after searching for reports of a threat.

They say that students and parents should expect a heightened police presence on Friday and there will be only one entrance open to the school.

The Belchertown Public School superintendent's office told CBS 3 this afternoon that they evacuated the Jabish Middle School at 62 North Washington St. because of reports of a threat.

A report was made to the front office that the word "bomb 1-4-13" was written on the boys' bathroom wall.

The superintendent's office called police to the scene, and the building was evacuated at 2:30 p.m.

Most students leave the building at 2:10 p.m. The building was searched by the Massachusetts State Police Bomb unit.

The superintendent's office says that they are taking every precaution to insure the safety of the building.

Parents have been notified by a mass phone call.
