CROMWELL, CT (WFSB) -

The Cromwell Police Department has arrested a 28-year-old man, who is accused of running a drug factory out of his home, and seized several weapons from that residence.

On Thursday, police executed a warrant at the McDonald Avenue home of Michael P. Marotta around midnight. Using a K-9 unit, police located illegal drugs that were "consistent with the manufacturing and distribution."

Police seized the following items from the home:

  • 332.4 grams of cocaine, which has an estimated street value of $34,000
  • Drug paraphernalia used for the manufacturing, packaging and transportation of narcotics
  • Three handguns
  • Three shotguns
  • Two rifles
  • Stun gun
  • Thousands of rounds of ammunition
  • $2,385

Marotta was arrested and charged with operating a drug factory, illegal possession, possession with intent to sale, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of less than one-half ounce of marijuana.

He was arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court Friday and scheduled to appear in court again on Jan. 24. Marotta was released on a $250,000 bond.
