A safety committee in Middletown will meet later this week to discuss new safety measures that may be put in place following the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown last month.
According to the Middletown Board of Education, the cost of implementing such measures will need to be a topic of discussion at a budget meeting that is being planned for the near future.
Details about proposed school security measures have not been released to the public, but Board of Education officials said the committee is constantly working toward improving their strategy.
The committee included both public and private schools in the city per the suggestion of the school safety symposium held in Southington earlier this week.
