Police in Cromwell said they responded to reports of a bank robbery on Shunpike Road on Wednesday morning.
According to Cromwell police, four people, who were wearing masks and dark clothing, entered Citizens Bank and demanded money from the tellers just after 10 a.m.
Weapons were implied, police said, however no weapons were shown during the robbery. The suspects then fled the scene in an older-model brown Nissan Maxima, with an undisclosed amount of money.
Police said that while the suspects got away with an undisclosed amount of money, a red security dye pack exploded.
A motor vehicle with money scattered inside was located at Cromwell Hills Condominium Association a short time later.
Investigators were able to determine that the vehicle was stolen from Hartford Wednesday.
The robbery remains under investigation by the Cromwell Police Department. Police are asking anyone who sees money that has been dyed red, or anyone with red stains on them to call police at 860-635-2256, ext. 24.
No customers were inside the bank at the time of the robbery. No injuries were reported.
