Officials in East Hartford said they have agreed to a $1.5 million settlement with the family of 15-year-old Marcum Asiamah.
Asiamah drowned last January in the East Hartford High School pool, and his mother then filed an intent to sue the town and school officials.
Officials said $1 million of the settlement will come from the school's insurance, and the $500,000 would come from the town's liability fund.
The school has since put a lifeguard on duty during swim classes.
