A winter weather advisory has been issued for Windham County until 7 a.m. as snow started falling throughout the state Monday afternoon.
This week will feature plenty of winter weather from a lengthy deep freeze to two snowfalls. Monday night's light fluffy snow will accumulate to a coating to 3" across most of the state.
Heavier snow will fall across eastern sections of southern New England. Lingering flurries will end early Tuesday morning.
The big story for Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday will be bitter cold. Temperatures are forecast to stay in the teens for highs on Wednesday.
The temperature could drop to zero or below either Tuesday night or more likely Wednesday night.
A bigger snowstorm could end the week with snow Friday afternoon through Friday night, then we can expect more fair, cold weather for the weekend. The deep freeze should end Monday afternoon as temperatures finally rise above freezing.
