NC WEATHER: More rain Saturday, but 80s all weekend

Updated:
RALEIGH, N.C. -

The hottest day of the week is here in central North Carolina, but cooler weather arrives this weekend.

Today will be hot and humid again with highs in the lower to middle 90s.  Our normal high this time of year is 88.  Skies will be partly sunny and there could be a shower or storm this afternoon.  With the humidity, the heat index could it make it feel like the upper 90s.  There is a slight risk that any storm could produce damaging winds late this afternoon or early this evening.

Tonight will be partly cloudy with a risk of a shower or storm.  The muggy overnight low will stay in the lower 70s.

Saturday will be a transition day as a cold front will drop in from the northeast and move to our south.  With more clouds and a little better chance of showers and storms, highs will drop into the upper 80s.

By Sunday, clouds will give way to some sun as high pressure will build in from the northeast bringing in cooler air.  So, with clearing skies look for highs around 83 on Sunday.

Monday looks nice with mostly to partly sunny skies and high of 81.  Tuesday and Wednesday will be mostly sunny with highs in the lower to middle 80s as high pressure will continue to dominate.  By next Thursday temperatures will warm back up into the upper 80s with mostly to partly sunny skies.
