A water main break near the West Hartford/Hartford city line that caused businesses to lose service and created traffic problems has been repaired, according to officials with the Metropolitan District Commission
An 8-inch line broke around 9:30 a.m. along Prospect Avenue, which caused officials to close the road from Kane Street to Park Road.
Officials said the break was fixed around 2:30 p.m., which was ahead of schedule.
The road re-opened around 4 p.m. after MDC crews worked on ice removal and road restoration.
While some companies lost water service, others never did. However, the main break still slowed sales for at least one business.
"It's OK," said Dorsey Scott of Wendy's. "It's kinda slow, but we do have water here. And everybody need to come on down to Wendy's."
One dentist in the area said he was in the middle of giving a patient a filling when he lost water.
"It ruined our day today. It was really slow," said Sarita Robles of Dr. Dental. "The water lines, I guess, it stopped around like 10:30 a.m. and it was like we were in the middle of procedure."
Crews said the cold weather didn't making it easy to find and repair the leak.
