'Columbine forever' written in planner gets student suspended
BOILING SPRINGS, SC (FOX Carolina) -
A Boiling Springs High School student was suspended last week after administrators said he wrote inappropriate phrases in his planner.
Spartanburg District 2 Superintendent Scott Mercer said the planner was turned over to administrators after it was found by another student. He said the phrases "Columbine forever" and "Kill all Jews" were written inside, as well as a drawing of a swastika.
Mercer said a mental health expert concluded the 15-year-old sophomore is not a threat to other students.
In addition to his suspension, the student will attend an alternative school for the remainder of the school year, Mercer said. He said officials will then assess the boy to see if he can return to school.
The student does not face any criminal charges.
On April 20, 1999, 12 students and a teacher were killed in a mass shooting at Columbine High School in Colorado.
