PHOENIX (CBS5) -
Phoenix firefighters knocked down an apartment fire that trapped a number of residents on a second-floor balcony Thursday morning.
A Phoenix fire spokesman said the fire started in the older apartment complex at 3420 W. Rose Lane about 7 a.m. The fire began in a bottom floor apartment that filled a nearby stairwell with smoke and flames, trapping the residents on the upper floor, the spokesman said.
Firefighters extinguished the fire and rescued the trapped residents.
Only one unit was impacted by the fire and no one was injured, the spokesman said.
The cause was still under investigation.
