A man wanted for a robbery in Vernon has been brought into custody after leading police on a chase that ended in Hartford.
Police said the suspect robbed the CVS on Talcotville Road in Vernon around 4:15 a.m.
"Arriving officers found a man tried to snatch some money out of the cash drawer from the clerk," said Vernon Police Lt. Bill Meier. "We broadcast the suspect's description of the vehicle and suspect out to the area of the towns."
After that, police said the suspect led police on a chase through several towns and dense fog, which eventually ended in Hartford.
According to police, the suspect rammed a Hartford police cruiser and a state trooper vehicle before the driver fled on foot.
"I was working. One second there were like two cop cars, then I look there are five blocking the highway," said eyewitness Brandi.
Police said the suspect jumped over a fence on Flatbush Avenue in an attempt to flee, but he didn't make it and ended up falling down an embankment into an icy river.
Fire crews were needed to help remove the suspect after he was injured in the fall. Police said both officers whose vehicles were hit were not injured, but the suspect injured his leg while attempting to flee.
Police said so far, the suspect has not been arrested and is currently in a local hospital.
There's no word on what type of charges the robbery suspect could face.
