PROSPECT, CT (WFSB) -

The animal control officer in Prospect is asking for the public's help locating the owner of a 9-month-old pit bull that was hit by car on Scott Road.

The dog suffered a non-life-threatening leg injury when it was hit by a car around 8 p.m.

The pit bull, which is currently at the Prospect Vet, weighs about 45 pounds and had no collar and tags on it when it was found.

Police said they were hoping the owner comes forward, but that hasn't happened.

If anyone has any information about the pit bull, please call the Prospect Animal Control Office at 203-758-6150.
