VERNON, CT (WFSB) -

Police arrested two Springfield, MA, residents in connection with a residential break-in Thursday morning.

According to police, dispatch received a 911 emergency telephone call from a West Street resident, who reported that two people just tried to break into her home.

The resident told the dispatcher the vehicle description and license plate number as well as the description of the driver and a passenger. The resident told the dispatcher that a female was driving the car and a male was a passenger.

Officers were sent to the scene and observed a vehicle matching the description driving on Vernon Avenue near Brooklyn Street. Officers stopped the car and found the suspects.

The vehicle was being operated by Jacqueline Melcher, 26, and Bryan Connors, 29, both from Springfield. Both suspects were arrested and held by police. Melcher was held on a $50,000 bond. Connors, who has an extensive criminal history in both Connecticut and Massachusetts, was held on a $150,000 bond.
