TORRINGTON, CT (WFSB) -

Police are looking for a missing 46-year-old man from Torrington, who threatened to hurt himself.

A Sliver Alert was issued for John Ferentheil after his employer called police around 8 a.m. and said that he had not shown up for work Thursday and Friday.

According to his employer, Ferentheil, who is a carpenter, told coworkers that he would harm himself.

Ferentheil suffers from depression and suicidal ideations, according to police.

Police believe that Ferentheil may have gone to Naugatuck, Danbury, Simsbury or Torrington where he has family.

At 3 p.m., the Torrington Police Department began working on the investigation with Connecticut State Police, Connecticut Department of Energy & Environmental Protection and the Naugatuck Police Department.

However, Ferentheil and his vehicle have not been located as of Friday night.

Ferentheil is being described as white male, who is 6'2" and weighs 250 pounds with hazel eyes.

At the time that he went missing, he was wearing gray, hooded sweatshirt, jeans or blue work pants and work boots covered in paint. He drives his 1999 Chevrolet Blazer on Linton Street.

Anyone with information into his whereabouts is asked to call the Torrington Police Department at 860-489-2007.
