Naugatuck police search for man who robbed convenience store at gunpoint

NAUGATUCK, CT (WFSB) -

The Naugatuck Police Department is asking for the public's help identifying the man responsible for an armed robbery at a convenience store early Friday morning.

According to police, a man, who was wearing all black with a black scarf covering his face, entered the Cumberland farms on North Main Street at 3:20 a.m.

The suspect display a handgun and demanded that the clerk give him money from the register. He fled the store with an undisclosed amount of money and into a dark-colored SUV.

Police believe the suspect was headed north on Route 8.

No shots were fired and no one was seriously injured during the incident, police said.

The robbery remains under investigation by the Naugatuck Police Department. Anyone with any information is asked to call police at 203-729-5222. All calls can be kept confidential.
