February is American Heart Month.
Throughout the month, Baystate Medical Center is doing its part to make sure Western Mass residents know what it takes to be heart healthy.
Baystate began its annual Heart and Vascular Health Lecture Series on Sunday afternoon.
Dr. Timothy Egan, a Longmeadow High School alum, gave insight to preventive cardiology.
It is a lecture geared more towards people who have not had any heart issues.
Egan told CBS 3 that the statistics show everyone should be familiar with the topic.
There are three more lectures in this month's series.
Each is held on Sunday beginning at 1 p.m.
