BRIDEPORT, CT (WFSB) -

A Bridgeport teenager was seriously injured after being hit by a car while crossing the street to get to the school bus.

A 17-year-old boy was walking across Macon Drive to his bus on Old Town Road around 6:30 a.m. when he was hit by a 2000 Acura Integra being driven by Matthew Kuhn, 21, of Branford.

The unidentified 17-year-old was taken to Saint Vincent Medical with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.

Police said the school bus had "its flashing lights and stop sign activated" at the time of the crash. The teen suffered a left foot injury and a broken right leg.

Kuhn was cited for failure to obey a school bus signal.
