The Waterbury Police Department seized 10,000 bags of heroin worth approximately $100,000 during a routine traffic stop Tuesday night.
Officers stopped a tan Jeep Liberty with Casey Sinclair, 38, and Winsome Lawrence, 55, inside near the Interstate 84 exit.
During the stop, police found the bags of heroin as well as $12,000 in a compartment of the vehicle. Investigators determined that Sinclair and Lawrence were transporting heroin from New York to Waterbury for sale.
Sinclair and Lawrence, who are both from New York, were arrested and charged with drug charges including illegal possession with intent to sell, illegal possession in a school zone and conspiracy.
