NASHVILLE, TN (WSMV) -
A man convicted of murder will spend at least the next 51 years in prison.
David Avinger was sentenced Thursday for first-degree murder and aggravated robbery after Vincent Perkins was shot to death in Dec. 12, 2009.
Avinger, who is paralyzed from the waist down and confined to a wheelchair, met the victim in a car on Howard Street for a marijuana deal. But Perkins was robbed while sitting in the back seat, and was shot when he tried to leave the car.
Avinger was arrested in January 2010. His co-defendant, Antionette Reynolds, still has pending charges.
Avinger will be sentenced next month on the aggravated robbery charge.
