PHOENIX (CBS5) -

The National Weather Service has issued a winter weather advisory to areas around the state as a passing cold storm system moves through Arizona.

The winter advisory will remain in effect until 5 p.m. Saturday.

Snow is expected in elevations down to 3,800 feet with up to 2 inches of accumulation possible in the areas.  In higher elevations expect more accumulations, up to 7 inches above the 6,000 foot level.

The Arizona Department of Transportation is telling drivers to be wary of winter storm conditions along northern Arizona highways.

There have been numerous reports of vehicles sliding off the roadway along these icy roads.

Drivers can expect low visibilities and slick road conditions, in particular through the mountain pass areas.

Another chance for light showers across central Arizona, primarily focused toward more mountainous locations, will arrive on Monday as a second disturbance moves through the area.

Drier and warmer weather will return by next Wednesday.

The coldest early morning temperatures on Saturday included:

33 degrees - Carefree Ranch

36 degrees - Buckeye

38 degrees - Lake Pleasant

39 degrees - Deer Valley

42 degrees - Scottsdale

43 degrees - Mesa and Apache Junction

45 degrees - Phoenix and Chandler
