Travel has started to resume after more than three feet of snow was dropped on the state from Blizzard Charlotte.
The governor lifted a ban on travel at 4 p.m. Saturday, which will allow people to drive on all roads in Connecticut.
However, the governor as well as mayors and town officials were urging residents to stay off the roads in their cities, unless it is an emergency. Several city and town leaders have issued for their municipalities
Many of the roads were passable Sunday evening which means that they are only good enough for emergency vehicles.
Officials at Bradley International Airport said the facility reopened Sunday morning.
On its website, the airport said all commercial activity for Saturday was canceled, but the facility reopen at 6 a.m. Sunday.
The airport, which is located in Windsor Locks, was closed for snow removal, but officials said the main runway could handle emergency flights, if necessary.
Bradley International Airport spokesman John Wallace told Eyewitness News that as of late Sunday morning, about 90 percent of the flights were operating on a normal schedule.
Airport officials advised passengers to check with their airlines regarding flight status.
Trains, buses resume limited service
Due to current weather conditions, Peter Pan has canceled bus service through Sunday because of safety concerns for employees and passengers.
Metro-North train service resumed Sunday on New Haven Line between Stamford and Grand Central and will continue Monday.
"Metro-North employees continue to conduct aggressive snow clearing operations in the New Haven and Bridgeport yards and to clear track switches that allow trains to change from one track to another," Metro-North said on its website Sunday.
The New Haven Line schedule includes:
Regular AM peak service to/from Stamford
Regular New Haven Line off-peak service
Regular New Canaan and Danbury Branch service resuming
"People may notice that Metro-North Railroad will be running empty trains up and down the line this afternoon and evening to loosen the wires and pantographs and test the switches," Metro-North said on its website Sunday. "These trains cannot carry passengers because of the uncertainty of conditions along the right of way and we do not want to strand any customers."
The Waterbury Branch line will have limited bus service on Monday.
Riders are being advised to give themselves extra time to get to the station and are being advised and check with Eyewitness News for updates on service.
Amtrak officials restored limited service between New York and Boston Sunday. However, the Springfield Shuttle service, which runs from New Haven to Springfield, was canceled.
"Amtrak crews continue to clear track of deep snow, remove downed trees and make necessary repairs to restore full train service in the Northeast following the severe winter storm," Amtrak said on its website.
