Authorities are looking into eight roof collapses throughout Connecticut, due to the weight of snow left by Blizzard Charlotte.
The bubble roof on the sports complex in Tolland collapsed early Sunday morning, according to state police.
"Despite around the clock efforts by dozens of people who worked to clear the snow safely from the dome, the volume and the weight of 33-plus inches of snow caused enough damage for the dome to collapse," said the Star Hill Family in a statement.
Several Channel 3 viewers called our newsroom about the collapse at The Star Hill Family Athletic Center located on Gerber Drive in Tolland.
"We have received overwhelming support from our members/customers to offer to assist us and we appreciate everyone's support and patience," the statement from the Star Hill Family said.
According to their website, the athletic center was closed Sunday due the blizzard and all scheduled games for the weekend were postponed. All activities at the dome are canceled through Friday.
The Star Hill Family said there is not time table for when the dome will reopen and repairs are expected to take weeks.
"We have optimistic intentions to be operational next weekend," the statement from the Star Hill Family said.
The Branford Fire Department dealt with two roof collapses Sunday night.
There is a total collapse at the old Meineke Muffler on West Main Street and a partial collapse at condo complex at 141 Peddlers Dr.
Nobody was hurt at either roof collapse in Branford.
Experts are expected to be at the dome on Monday and Tuesday to "develop and implement a recovery plan."
Gov. Dannel P. Malloy said at a news conference Sunday night that there was six roof collapses throughout the state.
The roof at a warehouse, located at 30 Old Post Rd., collapsed early Saturday morning. The building was vacant at the time and no injuries were reported.
A barn at a dairy farm on Jackson Hill Road in Middlefield had its roof collapse at about 12:15 p.m.
No one was hurt during the incident.
There were cattle inside the barn at the time, and there were reports that some of the animals had to be euthanized.
The roof at the Napa warehouse on Route 3 in Middletown also collapsed Saturday morning.
People were inside the building at the time of the collapse, but no one was seriously injured.
The weight of the snow also caused the bubble at the Cheshire Community Pool to collapse. However, town officials are not positive if the bubble was popped or not.
The Cheshire Community Pool will be closed indefinitely, due to the collapse.
In the end, the Star Hill Family said they are thankful for "overwhelming support."
"We appreciate everyone's support and patience," the statement from the Star Hill Family said.
The fitness and aquatics center at the sports complex in Tolland will open Monday and operate Monday through Friday from 4:30 a.m. to 10 p.m., Saturday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday 8 a.m. to 6 p.m.
