Pedestrians hit by snow plow in Milford

MILFORD, CT (WFSB) -

The Milford Police Department is investigating a crash involving four pedestrians being hit by a snow plow Monday afternoon.

According to Milford police, the incident was reported on Bridgeport Avenue near Cowles Street at 11:19 a.m.

Three of the four people were taken to area hospitals. Two of the pedestrians were in critical condition while one person suffered minor injuries and the other one was not seriously injured, police said.

Police are advising residents to avoid walking in the streets because of the weather conditions and large snow piles.

Pedestrians should walk against the direction of traffic because that way walkers can see oncoming traffic. When walking people should stay close to the edge of the roadway, police said.

Bridgeport Avenue was closed eastbound at Naugatuck Avenue, while police investigated the incident. The road reopened in both directions before 1:30 p.m.

The Milford Police Department is still investigating the crash and no charges have been filed at this time.

Anyone with any information about the crash should call police at 203-783-4749.
