A local university is getting a facelift with the addition of a fieldhouse.
Construction is slated to begin in May at Saginaw Valley State University's Ryder Center.
The $20 million project will include a 300-meter indoor track, which will have synthetic turf for baseball, softball, football and soccer practice.
The plan also calls for a reduction in the number of seats at O'Neill Arena, which plays host to the men's and women's basketball teams.
The addition is scheduled to be completed by April 2014.
The Ryder Center was built in 1989 and is SVSU's primary indoor athletic facility. The building also houses academic classrooms and labs.
