A driver was stopped at a traffic light at a Hartford intersection Wednesday afternoon when all of a sudden the ground caved in from under.
The incident occurred around 4 p.m. near the intersection of Barbour and Charlotte streets.
Officials with the Metropolitan District Commission believe the incident could be snow-related.
The vehicle was on top of a sewer line and near two water mains, however, they were not damaged.
The driver was not seriously injured.
However, there was significant damage to the tires, and the car had to be towed from the scene.
The area was closed while police investigated the incident.
