ISABELLA COUNTY, MI (WNEM) -
The Isabella County Sheriff's department says two people have been arrested following a police chase Wednesday night.
While on patrol, an Isabella County sheriff's deputy saw a black 2006 Lincoln Zephyr passenger car traveling on Pickard Road at a very slow rate of speed, then sped up and thenslowed down again. The trooper said the car was also weaving while it was traveling eastbound on Pickard.
The officer said the car then came to a complete stop in the middle of the lane. It was at this point that the deputy activated the patrol car lights and attempted a traffic stop.
The driver then took off at a high rate of speed and the trooper said it did not stop or even slow down while going through the stop sign at Winn Road.
As the chase ensued, the vehicle traveled erratically and passed several cars in a no-passing zone. The driver then ended up losing control near Nottawa Road, spun out, ran off the road, collided with a utility pole and then a tree. There was a power outage in the area as a result of the crash.
Authorities said none of the four individuals in the car received any injuries as a result of the crash.
The driver of the car told police she was trying to elude them because of drugs being in the car.
Authorities identified the driver as a 28-year-old woman from Grand Rapids. She was arrested on charges including fleeing and eluding, operating a motor vehicle while intoxicated (third offense) and driving with a suspended license.
One of the back seat passengers, a 19-year-old man also from Grand Rapids, was arrested for possession of marijuana.
