An ammonia gas leak early Thursday morning caused Norwich Ice Rink to be closed.
Crews from Department of Energy and Environmental Protection spent Thursday afternoon cleaning up after an anhydrous ammonia gas leak was discovered Wednesday night.
"We were able to make an entry and secure plumbing to refrigerant system and stop the leak," DEEP officials said. "We then ventilated the building to remove the ammonia. After that, the facility was able to repair the valve and restore the system."
Officials said the Norwich Ice Rink will be closed between 10 and 14 days while repairs are being made, according to its website.
