VERNON, CT (WFSB) -
The Vernon Police Department is warning drivers not to pass a standing school bus with its flashing lights on after a recent increase in violations.
Drivers are reminded to stop at all four-lanes roads even if the bus is traveling in the opposite direction, unless there are raised medians on the street.
When stopping for a bus, a motorist must be at least 10 feet away from the bus.
Police said the fine for passing a standing school bus is $465 and the second violation could draw a court appearance.
