A new mom who's had tragedy strike her at a young age is getting some much-needed help from her community.
As you've already seen in weeks past, a local pastor is paying it forward by giving $200 to a deserving person in need each week.
The money is dedicated to helping people in Mid-Michigan. This week's recipient is Amber Clark.
"It's just been crazy for her," explains Michelle Johnson, who nominated her daughter to pay it forward. "She's been so strong. I need someone to pay it forward to her."
Michelle Johnson's daughter, Amber, is a widow at age 25. In September, her husband and high school sweetheart, Chad, was in an accident and he died unexpectedly.
"Yesterday was his birthday. He would have been 28," said Amber.
Two months after Chad's death, amber gave birth to the couple's first child, Alexis.
"There have just been so many friends and family that have helped, and I don't know what I'd do without them," said Amber.
Herbert Banks is the "Paying it Forward" pastor and he's been teaming up with TV5 for the past few weeks.
After hearing about the pain Amber has been going through, Banks, of New Creation Church of God, decided to "pay it forward" to her, hoping the unexpected good deed would lift her spirits.
"God has not forgotten about you," said Banks. "We simply want you, once you do what you need to do, to help someone out. Give someone a helping hand."
Without hesitation, Amber accepted the challenge.
"If I can help someone in some way, I would love to, because so many people have done so much for me," said Amber. "You don't realize it until you go through something how many people are really there for you."
If you know someone who could use a helping hand, nominate them for the "pay it forward" campaign. Send us an email telling us why they're a good candidate at email@example.com.
